Principal Solution Architect (Network Automation)

Location: Macquarie Park, NSW, Australia; hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote or from home

What you will do

• Define end-to-end automation architectures targeting automation of 80% of recurring IP changes by December 2027.
• Lead large-scale migration of NBN and fibre business services from legacy networks to the IPM declarative pipeline.
• Design multi-vendor abstraction layers across Cisco, Ciena, and Fortinet networks.
• Model product intent for Carrier IP-Line, IP-VPN, MEF E-Line/E-LAN, SD-WAN, and SIP Voice using YANG, OpenAPI, and JSON Schema.
• Introduce zero-touch provisioning, Cisco NSO, NetBox as the network source of truth, and intent-based automation workflows.
• Mentor network engineers, promote CI/CD and software-driven operations, and collaborate with Sales, Product, Architecture, and Technology teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building, scaling, and automating tier-1 carrier networks.
• Experience architecting and delivering high-stakes network migrations, including large enterprise service portfolios.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco NSO, zero-touch provisioning, legacy OSS replacement, and automation pipelines.
• Deep architecture knowledge of Carrier IP-Line, IP-VPN, MEF E-Line/E-LAN, SD-WAN, and SIP Voice.
• Expertise with NetBox or an equivalent authoritative network design and inventory system, plus Cisco, Ciena, and Fortinet technologies.
• Knowledge of container-based delivery, GitOps, CI/CD, network modelling standards, and modern software engineering practices; degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
