Electrical Controls and Maintenance Engineer (Industrial Automation)

What you will do

• Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic control systems and related hardware.
• Diagnose issues in control panels, instrumentation, sensors, and industrial equipment.
• Update control logic and firmware, including PLC programs created from blank projects in ladder logic.
• Perform preventive maintenance and support new equipment commissioning, process improvements, and system upgrades.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and maintenance teams while documenting work and reporting issues accurately.
• Ensure systems comply with performance, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of electronics, electrical control systems, PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing control panels, instrumentation, and related equipment.
• Advanced PLC programming skills using ladder logic, with knowledge of digital, analog, Fieldbus, Ethernet, and serial I/O interfaces.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics technology, mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience; alternatively, 5+ years of experience designing, fabricating, and commissioning electromechanical equipment in industrial electrical controls.
• Level 1 or 2 Massachusetts license to perform electrical work.

Nice to have

• Experience with HMI interfaces, SCADA systems, and control software configuration.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or product development environment.
• Familiarity with applicable safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe electrical work practices.
