Liability Trial Counsel

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States

Salary: $132,800–$219,100 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently handle high-exposure cases and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation skills and techniques.
• Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Attend court proceedings, depositions, and other appointments, including travel as required.
• Advise insured clients and Claims partners on case analysis, file handling strategies, and litigation recommendations.
• Develop case strategies with expert witnesses and consultants, manage relationships, deliver legal training, and mentor attorneys and legal support staff.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including insurance defense litigation.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience handling jury trials, hearings, depositions, dispositive motion arguments, or other court proceedings.
• Strong oral and written advocacy, legal research, negotiation, decision-making, and case management skills.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on the location, with the ability to travel to court and other meetings.
