PCB Layout and Interconnect Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, with hybrid options near Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Fremont, California. Regular travel to Salem or Fremont is expected, averaging one week per quarter, with possible extended stays during critical project phases. Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Salary: $137,000–$179,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Execute complex multilayer PCB layouts in Altium Designer and prepare engineering deliverables for release.
• Design cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and interconnect schematics within mechanical and electrical constraints.
• Develop layout and harness solutions that improve emissions mitigation, power dissipation, testing, manufacturability, and assembly.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering on board outlines, connector placement, keep-out areas, and 3D harness routing through robotic assemblies.
• Present designs at cross-functional reviews and complete layout, harness, and release checklists.
• Work with PCB fabricators, assembly houses, and cable harness vendors to resolve technical issues and support production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of PCB layout and cable harness design experience.
• Deep experience with Altium Designer, Altium Harness, component footprints and symbols, and 3D ECAD/MCAD integration.
• Experience with high-speed differential signaling, impedance control, power electronics, flex and rigid-flex circuit design, and space-constrained 3D routing.
• Strong knowledge of IPC standards for PCB fabrication and assembly, including IPC-620 for wire harness assembly.
• Current authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Multi-board design, Altium CoDesigner, HyperLynx SI/PI analysis, or PTC Creo.
• Background in schematic entry, firmware, mechanical engineering, or testing.
• Experience with Jira or other project management tools.
