Space Mission Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in Tres Cantos, Madrid, Spain; includes up to 8 weeks per year of teleworking outside the usual geographical area.

What you will do

• Analyse and define algorithms to simulate the behaviour of payloads on space missions.
• Develop and unit-test simulation software using C++ and/or Python.
• Implement new functionality in the simulation framework and integrate algorithms into a single application.
• Analyse technical documentation for onboard instruments and model their behaviour.
• Perform system-level testing, report validation results, and correct detected issues.
• Maintain and evolve the software infrastructure using Continuous Integration, Git, Docker, and related tools.

Requirements

• Strong software programming and implementation skills.
• Background in physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Programming experience in C++ and experience working with GitLab.
• Interest in or background related to space missions.
• Ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary engineering team.

Nice to have

• Experience with Earth Observation payloads, Docker, Python, or Matlab.
• Experience in technical coordination, team leadership, or project management support.
