Software Engineer, Backend (AI)

Location: Barcelona, hybrid. Full visa and relocation support is available for candidates moving to Barcelona.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend architectures, microservices, and RESTful APIs for mobile and web clients using Node.js and Python.
• Own features end to end, from system design and implementation through GCP or Firebase deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
• Deploy and operate AI models and media workflows, including LLMs, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and image, video, and audio processing.
• Build event-driven asynchronous workflows using queues and task systems for high-volume AI and media workloads.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, observability, and cost efficiency across distributed production systems.
• Collaborate with Mobile, Frontend, Product, DevOps, and AI teams to ship consumer-facing features.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience building consumer-facing products at scale.
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Python, plus solid computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, databases, data modeling, performance optimization, and security best practices.
• Production experience with cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, or Azure; GCP and Firebase experience is preferred.
• Experience deploying and optimizing AI models in production, including external AI APIs and their performance characteristics.
• Professional proficiency in English and Turkish is required. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting mobile applications through backend APIs.
• Experience with GCP services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, or App Engine.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps practices, SSE, WebSockets, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
