Fire Modelling Software Developer (Spain Only)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain software for wildfire and fire behavior modeling.
• Implement and test algorithms based on scientific and mathematical models.
• Analyze scientific and numerical data, modeling results, and simulation outputs.
• Build scripts and tools for simulation, testing, data processing, and analysis automation.
• Perform testing, debugging, validation, and performance analysis.
• Own assigned tasks from requirements clarification through delivery of tested code and participate in technical discussions and code reviews.

Requirements

• Degree or background in Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Up to 2 years of software development experience; internships, research projects, and relevant scientific software work are considered.
• Good knowledge of Python and either C# or C++.
• Strong logical and analytical thinking, with the ability to apply mathematical and scientific concepts to software.
• Basic Linux command-line knowledge, Git, and software testing experience.
• Ability to work independently, learn an existing codebase, and use AI coding tools as part of the development process.

Nice to have

• Experience with supercomputers or HPC environments.
• Basic knowledge of Scrum or Agile.
• Experience with scientific computing, numerical modeling, simulations, or data analysis.
• Knowledge of wildfire or fire behavior modeling.
