TL;DR
Director, Policy & Procedure (Accounting): Establishing and governing global accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks for a medical device organization with an accent on U.S. GAAP, financial reporting controls, and regulatory compliance. Focus on interpreting complex accounting guidance, leading policy implementation across global entities, supporting audits and business transformations, and developing finance teams.

Location: Raynham, Massachusetts, United States of America; onsite

Base pay: $150,000.00–$258,750.00 per year

Johnson & Johnson MedTech develops healthcare and medical device solutions, with the Orthopedics business planned to separate into the standalone DePuy Synthes company.

What you will do

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of global accounting policies and procedures under U.S. GAAP, statutory requirements, and internal governance standards.
  • Provide authoritative interpretation of accounting policies for complex and non-routine transactions.
  • Design, document, and oversee internal controls over financial reporting in partnership with Internal Audit and Compliance.
  • Monitor accounting standards and regulatory changes, assess business impact, and lead implementation activities.
  • Partner with regional and global finance leaders, auditors, and senior stakeholders to ensure consistent policy application and resolve issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and develop a high-performing finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10–12 years of experience in accounting, controllership, or financial reporting, including progressive responsibility at director or senior leadership level.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks such as SOX and ICFR.
  • Experience managing and developing teams and influencing senior stakeholders across functions.
  • Ability to interpret and clearly communicate complex accounting guidance.
  • English proficiency is required. Travel of up to 15% domestically and/or internationally is expected.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience in a regulated multinational healthcare, medical device, or life sciences organization.
  • Experience with business transformations, integrations, separations, or global ERP and financial systems implementations.
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification.
  • Experience with change management, process improvement, and complex internal or external audits.
