Manufacturing Engineer Internship (Welding and Automation)

Location: McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, United States; the role combines office-based duties with physical work in field or production environments.

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Review and develop welding procedures according to applicable codes and standards.
• Support automation initiatives through cost analysis, programming, and integration.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and investigations related to fabrication processes.
• Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production builds.
• Review fixture and tooling designs and analyze workspace layouts, workflows, and equipment requirements.
• Manage projects or project components, process engineering changes, and participate in cost studies, time estimates, and technical proposals.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in weld engineering, robotics, mechatronics, programming, engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to work in both office and production environments, including standing, walking across shop floors, moderate lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise.
• Ability to shift between detailed computer-based work and occasional physical tasks.

Nice to have

• Background in fabrication.
• Experience with offline programming.
