Community Affairs Manager (Data Centers)

Location: Remote, supporting a Northern U.S. portfolio outside Texas and Arizona. Approximately 30% travel to sites and surrounding communities, primarily in the Chicagoland area, Springfield, IL, Columbus, OH, and Raleigh, NC, with periodic travel to Dallas headquarters.

What you will do

• Develop and execute community outreach and stakeholder engagement strategies across the project lifecycle.
• Build relationships with elected officials, municipal staff, school districts, community organizations, business leaders, and neighboring property owners.
• Support zoning, permitting, entitlement, tax incentive, and economic development efforts.
• Plan and facilitate public meetings, stakeholder briefings, open houses, and community engagement events.
• Monitor political, regulatory, economic, and community developments and mitigate risks affecting project approvals, construction, operations, and reputation.
• Coordinate with development, engineering, construction, legal, operations, marketing, communications, and executive leadership teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public affairs, communications, government relations, political science, economic development, business, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in community affairs, public affairs, government relations, economic development, stakeholder engagement, external affairs, communications, or a related field.
• Experience leading stakeholder engagement for complex development, infrastructure, real estate, energy, industrial, or construction projects.
• Knowledge of zoning, permitting, entitlement, economic development, tax incentives, or related governmental processes.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, relationship-building, judgment, and risk management skills.
• Must be able to travel up to 30% and support assigned Northern U.S. markets outside Texas and Arizona.

Nice to have

• Experience with external communications, media engagement, or public-facing communications.
• Experience representing an organization before public bodies, community groups, or governmental entities.
• Experience with mission-critical infrastructure, data centers, utilities, energy, industrial, or large-scale real estate development.
• Media spokesperson experience.
