Senior Software Engineer (Data Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Design and implement features and performance improvements for the orchestration control plane, including the scheduler, execution harness, and results processing.
• Build, test, maintain, and optimize backend services and reusable components for high throughput and scalability.
• Write technical designs, explain trade-offs, review designs and pull requests, and raise code quality standards.
• Improve test coverage, reduce technical debt, troubleshoot production issues, and follow up with post-mortems and mitigation plans.
• Plan and execute feature work while collaborating with product managers, QE, customer support, design, and engineering peers.
• Participate periodically in on-call rotations and use AI tools to accelerate development and author or review SDLC artifacts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software industry experience, including designing and building backend services and reusable components.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, performant code, testing, troubleshooting, technical design, and code review.
• Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to independently lead feature-level software and design work and identify and improve flaws in existing systems.
• Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for software development lifecycle work.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETL, ELT, cloud-based data platforms, schedulers, workflow orchestration, job queues, or distributed task execution.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services.
• Familiarity with Buildkite, Datadog, Grafana, analytics engineering, or the dbt ecosystem.
