Database Engineer III (Oracle SQL)

Location: Fully remote within the United States, supporting Eastern Time business hours from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET. Occasional travel for training or project meetings may be required, estimated at less than 5% annually.

Salary: $102,600–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Own recurring production data validation, reporting, and delivery processes.
• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle PL/SQL packages and procedures for XML, EDI, staging, fact-table, outbound-file, and reconciliation workflows.
• Analyze client data requests, produce accurate documented extracts, and explain discrepancies to business and government stakeholders.
• Tune queries on large partitioned tables, recover failed batch jobs, and replace manual spreadsheet processes with automation.
• Move changes through documented testing, security review, release approval, and production support.
• Document solutions, mentor junior developers, and help modernize reporting workloads for cloud data platforms.

Requirements

• Must pass U.S. Federal Government public trust clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or qualify through the Foreign National Government System.
• For the foreign-national clearance route, candidates must have lived in the United States for at least 3 of the previous 5 years and provide a valid passport and appropriate visa or work permit documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing and supporting production Oracle database applications, including 3 years in data warehousing, financial transaction processing, or regulatory reporting.
• Expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, query tuning, partitioned tables, structured-file loading, batch scheduling, Linux shell scripting, Python, Git, and AWS.
• Experience with agile methodologies, DevSecOps, CI/CD, formal release management, change control, and secure handling of healthcare and financial data.

Nice to have

• Government or regulated-environment experience, particularly in healthcare.
• Healthcare enrollment, claims, or payer financial data experience.
• Databricks, PySpark, cloud data platform migration, BI tools, or junior-developer mentoring experience.
