Life Safety Systems & Fire Alarm Construction Administration Engineer (Data Centers)

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States; requires travel of at least 25% to active construction sites.

Salary: $99,800 annually.

What you will do

• Provide construction administration services, including site visits, punch walks, installation inspections, witness testing, and contractor support.
• Review contractor submittals against design intent and resolve field coordination issues.
• Work directly with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and state and local code officials.
• Lead assessments, conceptual designs, and engineering calculations for fire alarm, detection, suppression, gas detection, smoke control, and life safety systems.
• Produce equipment specifications, sizing calculations, network diagrams, and construction deliverables using 2D and 3D platforms.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, schedules, and deliverables through construction completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of professional experience in fire alarm and life safety systems design, engineering, field installation, or inspection.
• Comprehensive knowledge of fire alarm systems and related hardware, including VESDA systems; familiarity with Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis.
• Strong understanding of IBC, IFC, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, and NFPA 70.
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% to active construction sites for field administration and testing.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, coordination, and client-facing skills.

Nice to have

• Active Professional Engineering license.
• At least 4 years of Autodesk Revit design and BIM coordination experience.
• Experience designing systems for mission-critical data centers.
• Knowledge of NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 13.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and managing project estimates or schedules.
