Automation Project Manager

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; on-site. Travel to Lear sites up to 30% of the time, including possible domestic and international travel.

What you will do

• Lead automation projects across scope, risk, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Serve as the primary customer contact during the design and build process, providing updates and resolving open issues.
• Manage project budgets, financial details, RFQs, purchasing coordination, and scope alignment with statements of work.
• Develop milestone timelines, lead project kickoffs, and coordinate engineers, technical trades, assembly plants, and integrators.
• Manage issue lists, drive resolution, and communicate project status to customers and internal teams.
• Coordinate factory acceptance testing timing and shipping arrangements, then share best practices and lessons learned.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or engineering services.
• 5+ years of project management experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project management practices, including MS Project, Excel, critical path analysis, and change management.
• Experience managing customer contracts and relationships and indirectly managing teams.
• Ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts, make proactive decisions, and communicate effectively.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
