Lead Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: CAD $110,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, and maintain core Securities Finance and Collateral Management platform components.
• Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through delivery.
• Evaluate frameworks, infrastructure, architectural options, and third-party tools with attention to scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost.
• Build automated integration tests and promote test-driven and behavior-driven development.
• Establish coding standards, tooling guidelines, and secure development practices aligned with enterprise and regulatory requirements.
• Review code and designs, mentor developers, translate business requirements into technical plans, and collaborate with product, business analysis, QA, engineering, and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including technical leadership on large-scale projects.
• Strong experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot or Spring Framework, Oracle PL/SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, CSS, or REST API design and integration.
• Deep knowledge of scalable and resilient systems using microservices, event-driven design, layered architectures, asynchronous publish-subscribe systems, Kafka, and event sourcing.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus Docker, Kubernetes, serverless computing, relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and data partitioning.
• Knowledge of SOLID, domain-driven design, software design patterns, performance optimization, security, and technology selection.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience; occasional evening or weekend support may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, JMeter, and Cucumber.
• Experience with C, C#, or WPF.
• Responsible and productive use of AI and agentic development tools.
