Political Programs Lead (AI)

Location: Washington, DC, United States. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office attendance.

Annual salary: $295,000–$345,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build and run the presidential engagement program for the 2028 cycle, including candidate mapping, AI policy education, executive preparation, platform, convention, and transition planning.
• Develop candidate outreach and education programs for federal, state, and local races, working with candidates and advisors in both parties.
• Build grassroots and grasstops field programs focused on AI policy in priority states and districts.
• Manage political giving across employee-funded PACs, voluntary employee participation programs, and permitted corporate contributions.
• Develop political intelligence, advise leadership on political risk and opportunity, and recommend candidates and committees for support.
• Build senior political relationships, oversee employee education and events, and hire and manage a growing team.

Requirements

• Experience in campaigns, party committees, political organizations, or corporate or association political programs, including responsibility for a program or budget.
• Working knowledge of PACs, individual giving, 501(c)(4) and trade association engagement, grassroots and grasstops organizing, candidate education, and applicable campaign finance, lobbying, gifts, and ethics rules.
• Experience advising senior executives on political matters.
• Preferred: 12+ years of relevant experience and senior-level experience in national politics.
• Experience working credibly with both parties and familiarity with federal and state political environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Sound judgment and discretion in reputationally sensitive work.
• Interest in helping candidates and officials understand AI governance.
