TL;DR

Structural Engineer III (Aerospace) (Metallic and Composite Structures): Leading the design, analysis, testing, and certification of advanced aerospace and defense structures with an accent on structural analysis, certification, and cross-functional integration. Focus on developing metallic and composite designs, executing structural test plans, performing FEA and fatigue analysis, and mentoring engineers.

Location: Plano, Texas, United States; office or hybrid environment

What you will do

Lead the design and analysis of advanced metallic and composite aerospace structures.
Develop and execute structural test plans and support certification activities.
Perform detailed structural, static, and dynamic analyses and identify design improvements.
Integrate structural designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Mentor junior engineers and communicate technical information, specifications, and project updates.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance are required.
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, civil engineering, or a related field; an advanced relevant degree may substitute for experience.
At least 6 years of experience in structural engineering or a related role.
Advanced knowledge of structural analysis and design principles, computer-aided engineering tools, and static or dynamic analysis.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary design and development teams and understand technical documents, designs, and test reports.
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods; occasional travel may be required.

Nice to have

Master’s degree, Professional Engineering license, or equivalent certification.
Experience with FEA tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using NASGRO or AFGROW.
Experience with classical hand calculations, substantiation reports, and aerospace and defense regulations from FAA, NASA, or DoD.
