TL;DR
Materials Laboratory Manager (Materials Engineering): Leading materials laboratory operations and multidisciplinary teams supporting gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and related components with an accent on material characterization, mechanical testing, and failure analysis. Focus on solving complex material reliability challenges, driving root cause investigations, and expanding laboratory capabilities through new methods and equipment.

Location: Hybrid in Orlando, Florida, United States. Travel approximately 10–15% domestically and internationally. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization and must meet applicable export control requirements.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary materials laboratory team.
  • Manage laboratory operations, priorities, resources, budgets, maintenance, and testing activities.
  • Oversee material characterization, metallurgical investigations, mechanical testing, and failure analysis.
  • Support Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and Service teams in resolving material-related challenges.
  • Drive root cause investigations and provide recommendations to improve product reliability.
  • Modernize laboratory capabilities through process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new testing methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in materials engineering, laboratory operations, testing, or failure analysis.
  • Leadership experience in an engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of metallic materials, material characterization, mechanical testing, and failure investigations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical projects and driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development.
  • U.S. work authorization and export-control eligibility are required: U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residence, refugee admission, or asylum status.

Nice to have

  • Experience in power generation, turbomachinery, aerospace, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, metallography, materials characterization, SEM, or related analytical methods.
  • Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, high-temperature alloys, coatings, creep, fatigue, or fracture mechanics.
  • Laboratory modernization, equipment qualification, or capability expansion experience.
