Cable Splicer - Outside Plant (OSP)

Location: Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, USA; non-remote.

What you will do

• Install, splice, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cable systems.
• Maintain aerial, underground, and direct-buried outside plant cable infrastructure, including poles, conduits, manholes, handholes, pedestals, and distribution equipment.
• Perform fusion and mechanical fiber splicing using OTDRs, optical power meters, cable analyzers, and other test equipment.
• Locate and resolve cable faults, service interruptions, and connectivity issues while completing assigned work orders and trouble tickets.
• Read and update cable records, engineering drawings, splice diagrams, and as-built documentation.
• Support cable route planning, infrastructure upgrades, modernization, inspections, audits, and expansion projects for DoD communications networks.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• An active DoD Secret Clearance is required; clearance sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
• At least five years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing outside plant telecommunications infrastructure.
• Experience with fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cable systems, including installation, testing, repair, and aerial, underground, or direct-buried environments.
• Knowledge of BICSI standards, OSHA requirements, telecommunications practices, and technical documentation.
• Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to operate company vehicles, field troubleshooting skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• DoD, federal government, or military telecommunications experience.
• BICSI, FOA CFOT, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or equivalent telecommunications certifications.
• Experience with as-built documentation, cable inventories, manholes, handholes, pedestals, duct banks, and infrastructure modernization.
