Field Service Technician III (Telecommunications)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States. On-site field role; remote work is not eligible. Work may require travel throughout Alaska and operation in remote arctic environments.

What you will do

• Install, service, troubleshoot, disconnect, reconnect, and repair video, voice, and high-speed data services at residential, business, and multi-unit properties.
• Maintain and test RF, analog, microwave, fiber optic, AC/DC, cabling, and customer-premises equipment.
• Evaluate field conditions and signal quality using industry-standard monitoring and test equipment.
• Respond to outages, perform cable locates, rewiring, upgrades, impairment mitigation, and preventative or corrective maintenance.
• Update dispatch records, service orders, and trouble tickets; communicate with customers and escalate issues when required.
• Support senior technicians and mentor junior technicians on installation, testing, and repair work.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least four years of experience in broadband, data, networking, telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Advanced knowledge of telecommunications installation, wiring, troubleshooting, programming, system design, and test procedures.
• Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, satisfactory driving record, and successful completion of defensive driving requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors and indoors in severe weather, climb poles and ladders up to 40 feet, work in trenches, and handle equipment loads up to 70 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, overtime, on-call assignments, weekends, holidays, and emergency response periods.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in electronics or a related field, telecommunications trade school, or equivalent training.
• Relevant telecommunications certifications or industry experience.
• Six months of experience living in an arctic environment, where required by the assigned location.
