Staff Software Engineer; Software Engineering / Consultant / Manager (Fintech)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office. The role requires 5–10% travel and is performed in an office setting.

Salary: $133,300–$213,400 USD per year, with possible bonus, equity, and sales incentive payments where applicable.

What you will do

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, QA, operations, compliance, and other stakeholders to define product requirements.
• Translate functional requirements into system designs, develop product components, and lead design reviews.
• Build and maintain extensible, reusable code while leading code reviews and improving engineering standards.
• Create complex test plans, identify quality gaps, debug issues, and use monitoring and data analysis to detect defects.
• Respond to incidents during on-call rotations, troubleshoot production problems, and support incident resolution.
• Build and enhance developer tools, automation frameworks, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, 2 years with an advanced degree, no experience with a PhD, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in software engineering, product development, web or mobile applications, enterprise-scale web services, or related technologies.
• Experience with software testing, automated testing, performance testing, debugging, troubleshooting, defect management, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with code reviews, coding standards, container-based technologies, developer tools, and full software development lifecycle ownership.
• Ability to lead collaboration across Development, QA, DevOps, Product, Architecture, and Production Support teams.
• Ability to work from the Austin office at least 3 days per week.

• Leadership or mentoring experience, with or without direct reports.
• Experience driving adoption of Generative AI and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Experience promoting secure, responsible, compliant use of Generative AI while protecting code quality, data, and intellectual property.
• Experience influencing engineering standards and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
