Software Engineer - Assistant Vice President (Backend)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Hybrid schedule: office Monday–Thursday with remote work available on Friday.

Base salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-based services and APIs.
• Translate product and business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Own projects from technical design through production rollout and ongoing support.
• Write maintainable code and contribute to technical design decisions and code reviews.
• Build testing, observability, security, and operational readiness into services.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery, investigation, and learning.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with a modern programming language such as Ruby, Scala, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
• 4+ years of experience building or integrating with APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with automated testing, version control, cloud application development, distributed systems, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to plan work, refine specifications, delegate tasks, and validate implementation quality.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
