Tech Lead Manager, Data Integration Platform

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA. The in-office policy requires four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available depending on eligibility and location.

Base salary: $199,000–$275,000 annually, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the strategy, roadmap, delivery, and operational health of the Data Integration Platform.
• Lead and develop engineers while remaining hands-on through architecture, design reviews, code reviews, and targeted production contributions.
• Build reliable connectors and pipelines across APIs, event streams, file transfers, and change-data-capture systems.
• Define ingress and egress patterns, data contracts, schemas, SLAs, throughput and latency targets, schema evolution, and replay handling.
• Develop governance and compliance tooling covering RBAC, PII protection, tokenization, lineage, and auditability.
• Establish on-call, incident management, postmortems, and SLO practices for integration pipelines and connectors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in high-scale, high-reliability software development focused on platforms, infrastructure, data integration, or data movement.
• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and engineer development.
• Hands-on production coding experience with Python preferred, or Java, Scala, or a comparable language, plus fluency in SQL and analytical workload performance tuning.
• Deep experience with ingestion and CDC pipelines, connector frameworks, event streaming, API and SFTP exchange, data lakes or lakehouses, and warehouses.
• Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Airflow, Kubernetes, Debezium, Fivetran or Airbyte-style frameworks, and cloud data ecosystems including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of scalable data architecture, schema design, data contracts, schema evolution, security, governance, compliance, RBAC, PII handling, and auditability.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-ready data foundations involving metadata, lineage, semantic layers, and reliable data pipelines.
• Experience scaling platforms and operations through rapid growth in data volume, complexity, and criticality.
