Senior Accountant-Commercial Accounting (Automotive)

Location: Remote; candidates living in or able to relocate to the Detroit metro area are preferred. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.

Annual base pay: $85,431–$140,840 USD

What you will do

• Prepare journal entries, monthly accruals, claim settlements, inventory adjustments, and reconciliations for warranty and service parts accounting.
• Prepare quarterly and annual warranty accrual calculations, true-up schedules, roll-forwards, workpapers, and financial statement disclosure support.
• Support external audits by assembling warranty-related reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, Legal, Engineering, and FP&A to assess accounting implications and provide analysis for warranty programs and contractual terms.
• Build and improve accounting processes, internal controls, SAP reporting, data accuracy, automation, and SOX readiness.
• Identify accounting implications of new products and operational changes and document conclusions before and during product launches.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidacy preferred.
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, with public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with warranty and contingent liability accounting under ASC 450, including accruals, roll-forwards, and reconciliations.
• Experience with service parts or spare-parts inventory accounting under ASC 330, including COGS, reserves, and cycle-count reconciliations.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP, advanced Excel skills, and strong analytical and communication abilities.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Automotive, electric vehicle, or manufacturing experience.
