Senior Accountant

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 per year

What you will do

• Own significant parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and balance sheet schedules.
• Manage sales tax and VAT compliance, including Avalara maintenance, reconciliations, and multi-state filings with external advisors.
• Support revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accrued expenses, prepaid accounts, commissions, bonuses, and payroll-related entries.
• Maintain fixed asset, depreciation, and lease accounting records and support asset verification and impairment assessments.
• Prepare financial statements, audit schedules, management and board reporting packages, variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts.
• Drive process improvements using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT, while supporting accounts payable and cross-functional reporting.

Requirements

• Must be located in the USA for this remote role.
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, including hands-on sales tax filing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or a master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement analysis.
• Experience with Oracle or NetSuite, Avalara, and advanced Excel functions including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS.
• Comfort using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to streamline accounting work.

Nice to have

• Power Query experience.
• Experience working in a SaaS company.
• CPA or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
