Import Compliance Specialist (Medical Devices)

Location: United States; fixed hybrid schedule with onsite work in Rochester, New York on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Less than 10% travel may be required.

Salary: $63,000–$70,000 per year, depending on education and experience.

What you will do

• Review import and export documentation, licensing, certificates of origin, and shipment records.
• Maintain compliance with US and international customs, export control, and foreign trade requirements.
• Coordinate with US Customs, government agencies, customs brokers, and internal business units.
• Maintain product master data, HTS classifications, countries of origin, ECCN classifications, and general licenses in relevant systems.
• Complete AES/ITN filings, EEI data submissions, duty drawback requests, desk audits, and export record retention.
• Perform denied-party and sanctions screening, including reviews involving restricted and high-risk countries.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience with US import regulations.
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification required.
• FDA experience in medical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology imports, brokerage, or training.
• At least 1 year of experience classifying products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, including chapter determination.
• Must work onsite in the office every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
• Associate degree or higher, preferably a bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Licensed Customs Broker certification.
• CTPAT, tariff mitigation, SAP, or Certified Transportation of Dangerous Goods experience.
• Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Strong MS Office, Excel, Word, communication, and analytical skills.
