Senior Trade Compliance Analyst (Import/Export)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; additional location: Rochester, New York. Field and onsite visits, warehouse or transportation facility walk-throughs, audit support, and travel may be required.

Salary: $58,800–$102,100 per year.

What you will do

• Execute recurring logistics performance, controls, reporting, and issue-tracking routines.
• Maintain SOPs, job aids, checklists, RACI materials, training records, and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Internal Audit, IT Security, brokers, carriers, suppliers, and government agencies.
• Review import and export transaction documentation and support customs clearance inquiries.
• Support customs entry audits covering country of origin, tariff classification, valuation, duty calculations, and supporting evidence.
• Maintain trade compliance metrics, dashboards, audit files, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least 3 years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, international logistics, import/export operations, internal controls, or a related function.
• Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transportation providers, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, country of origin, assists, recordkeeping, free trade agreements, special trade programs, and Partner Government Agency requirements.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, basic data analysis, and reports from ERP, WMS, or shipment visibility TMS tools.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, organization, communication, and escalation skills.
• Ability to support onsite or field activities, facility walk-throughs, audits, and travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with audits, internal controls testing, evidence management, C-TPAT, duty drawback, or specialized trade programs.
• Familiarity with tariff classification, origin determination, valuation, duty management, import/export documentation, and end-to-end supply chain processes.
• Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist, or similar certification.
• Experience with access reviews or segregation-of-duties activities for business applications.
