Product Development Manager (Furniture Upholstery)

Location: On-site at hirify.global Upholstery in Conover, North Carolina, USA. Monday–Friday, more than 40 hours per week; weekends and overtime may be required.

What you will do

• Oversee the Product Development department, including pattern making, frame drawing and design, frame building, and upholstering new products.
• Provide collaborative input on new and existing furniture pieces.
• Work with plant leadership to ensure samples and furniture meet quality, style, and product requirements.
• Move samples and new products from concept through completion while correcting pattern and design issues.
• Identify process improvements and product cost-reduction opportunities.
• Supervise 1–10 employees and review, correct, and approve time records.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in furniture upholstery, pattern making, and general furniture upholstery.
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of related experience is preferred.
• Strong English reading and comprehension, speaking, writing, communication, computer, math, prioritization, and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of lean and 5S concepts and the ability to work safely with tools, supplies, and required PPE.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds; remain active for at least 8 hours; work with minimal supervision; and provide reliable transportation.
