Software Engineer/C Developer-PGD (PostgreSQL)

Location: 100% remote within EMEA

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and document new capabilities for hirify.global Postgres Distributed.
• Maintain and improve the performance and usability of existing multi-master PostgreSQL features.
• Translate business requirements into executable engineering tasks.
• Provide production support for hirify.global Postgres Distributed customers.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with a globally distributed team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in C programming.
• Experience with PostgreSQL internals, including storage engines, WAL, replication, catalogs, or extension development.
• Understanding of distributed systems concepts such as replication topologies, consensus, conflict resolution, eventual consistency, and failure modes.
• Experience with multi-version or multi-branch codebases, active backporting workflows, build systems, CI/CD, and Git.
• Strong debugging and performance analysis skills.

Nice to have

• Contributions to PostgreSQL or other open-source database projects.
• Experience with logical replication, logical decoding, custom replication solutions, or high-availability and failover architectures.
• Knowledge of Raft and the PostgreSQL extension API or hook system.
• Experience with Python, Rust, AWS, Azure, GCP, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes.
