Senior Engineering Manager, Member Experience (AI)

Location: Remote, USA

Base salary: $176,000–$253,000 annually, depending on geographic zone, plus annual cash bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Own delivery across multiple member-facing engineering squads, including sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, estimation, and capacity decisions.
• Improve cycle time while maintaining software quality and explain changes in squad performance.
• Ship production code off the critical path and review architecture, designs, incidents, and operational practices.
• Partner with Product Strategists to align product scope, technical feasibility, cost, and delivery timelines.
• Grow engineering managers and future technical leaders through direct feedback, coaching, and accountability.
• Plan future headcount, skill mix, onboarding, and AI-assisted engineering standards across the organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years managing engineers directly.
• Experience developing another leader and supporting engineers or managers through growth and underperformance.
• Track record of shipping mission-critical software to production and owning its operation afterward.
• Current or recent production coding experience in backend, web frontend, iOS, or Android development.
• Hands-on experience directing AI agents through production changes and assessing where they help or create rework.
• Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, telemetry, estimation, prioritization, and clear written communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with an expert-generalist engineering model spanning backend, web, and mobile systems.
• Experience managing managers or growing engineers into technical leadership roles.
