Patient Care Technician (Medical Oncology)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite night shift

Salary: USD 24.26 per hour

What you will do

• Support registered nurses with direct and indirect patient care on a medical oncology unit.
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, cardiac status, and oxygen saturation.
• Collect specimens, perform phlebotomy and EKGs, apply monitoring equipment, and assist with designated procedures.
• Provide hygiene, nutrition, mobility, newborn, comfort, safety, pre- and post-operative care as assigned.
• Respond to call lights and emergencies, initiate basic life support, transport patients and equipment, and report changes in condition to the RN.
• Maintain room readiness, supplies, equipment, documentation, quality checks, and a safe, clean care environment.

Requirements

• CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program with completed basic clinical rotations.
• American Heart Association CPR recognition, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• Unit-based recognition for capillary blood glucose monitoring.
• High school diploma required; college or nursing education is preferred.
• Ability to complete mandatory health and safety training with at least 90% accuracy.
• Healthcare experience and an associate or bachelor's degree are preferred.
