TL;DR
Operations Engineering Co-Op (Medtech): Supporting test system and electro-mechanical fixture development, documentation, research, and limited design work for cardiac medical devices with an accent on electrical circuits, electronic components, and hands-on testing. Focus on building and evaluating fixtures, using test equipment, performing basic soldering, and supporting Test Engineering projects under close supervision.

Location: On-site in Pittsburgh, PA, United States

Hourly pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour

Medical device and software company developing cardiac and cardiopulmonary technologies, including wearable defibrillators, heart failure monitoring systems, and oxygen therapy systems.

What you will do

  • Support the Test Engineering team on a variety of projects and applications.
  • Assist with test system and electro-mechanical fixture development.
  • Prepare documentation, conduct research and studies, and perform limited design work.
  • Use small hand or power tools and perform basic soldering when required.
  • Complete assignments under close supervision with work reviewed by Test Engineering.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and active enrollment in an accredited university program.
  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, preferably electrical or electronic engineering.
  • At least one full year of university study completed.
  • Basic understanding of electricity, electrical circuits, and electronic components.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, plus the ability to meet regular physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion.

Nice to have

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, or other test equipment.
  • Software development or programming knowledge.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout tools and basic mechanical aptitude.
