Control and Data Systems Lead

hirify.global is a fusion energy company developing the hardware and infrastructure for commercial stellarator fusion power plants, with teams across Munich, Zurich, and Oxford.

What you will do

• Build and lead the team responsible for the architecture, design, and integration of facility-wide monitoring and control systems for the Alpha stellarator.
• Specify supervisory control software, telemetry pipelines, and live monitoring systems for Alpha and future facilities.
• Design, deploy, and scale facility compute infrastructure and data platforms for high-speed ingestion, streaming telemetry, storage, and visualization.
• Define the technical strategy for functional safety and collaborate with engineers, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Integrate physical services, cabling, and facility infrastructure with the instrumentation and control architecture under radiation and magnetic-field constraints.
• Identify control and automation hardware R&D opportunities and standardize hardware-software interfaces across subsystems.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading delivery or execution, selecting talent, and building highly collaborative teams in fast-moving environments.
• Strong background with safety-critical or mission-critical software and a vision for modern software and AI in operational infrastructure.
• Experience in high-performance, high-consequence engineering environments with strict performance and reliability requirements.
• Experience managing external customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with mission control, real-time data analysis, and integrating software with physical hardware.
