Software Engineer 3 (Java/Vue)

Location: Norfolk, Virginia, US; hybrid work. On-site support at NCTE facilities may be required.

Salary: $96,951–$125,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, document, test, debug, and sustain software for Navy Training Baseline products.
• Develop distributed modeling and simulation systems supporting Live, Virtual, and Constructive fleet training.
• Implement Java, JavaScript, Vue, shell scripting, and Linux-based solutions.
• Integrate simulation systems using TENA, HLA, DIS, and related interoperability frameworks.
• Collaborate with technical leads, systems engineers, developers, end users, and subject matter experts.
• Support technical documentation, operating instructions, proposals, briefings, user manuals, and secure software standards.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience: 5 years with a bachelor’s degree, 3 years with a master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Java, object-oriented design, debugging, and Linux development.
• Experience with multithreaded applications, IntelliJ or Eclipse, Git, and software configuration management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• JUnit, Agile development, CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and SonarQube.
• JavaScript, ExtJS, Vue, and web technologies.
• TENA, HLA, DIS, or other modeling and simulation interoperability frameworks.
• Scripting languages, databases, cryptographic log-on, secure coding standards, C/C++, or C4I systems.
