Staff Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Hybrid; remote or office-based work in Riga. Listed locations: Poland, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, and Portugal.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and scaling of candidate retrieval, ranking, personalization, and recommendation systems for products and designs.
• Develop multimodal search and recommendation capabilities using sequence embeddings, vector search, two-tower models, and learning-to-rank approaches.
• Oversee image generation and computer vision pipelines for design creation, product delayering, background separation, print-area analysis, and asset validation.
• Own end-to-end ML product development, from model selection, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering to serving pipelines and frontend API integration.
• Define evaluation frameworks and A/B testing strategies based on ranking quality, visual quality, conversion, and sales metrics.
• Set applied ML standards, guide make-versus-buy decisions, run design reviews, and mentor senior individual contributors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience building, deploying, and scaling production ML systems, with staff-level technical leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in search, candidate generation, recommendation systems, two-tower models, ANN vector indexing, transformer rerankers, and learning-to-rank algorithms.
• Hands-on experience with OpenCV, CNNs, Vision Transformers, diffusion models, multimodal LLMs, and CLIP.
• Strong Python and PyTorch experience, plus familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, FastAPI, event-driven processing, Flyte, CometML, and Snowflake.
• Experience building closed-loop ML systems that use clicks, conversions, and sales outcomes to improve model training and generation logic.
• Ability to take full technical ownership of product features and make architectural decisions across the stack.
