Manager Environment, Health & Safety (MedTech)

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom; 100% on site at the DePuy Synthes Leeds facility. Approximately 5–10% domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Lead site Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) activities and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
• Develop and implement site EHS&S objectives, action plans, audits, dashboards, reports, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage EHS&S professionals and consultants, including goal setting, coaching, performance management, development planning, and succession planning.
• Evaluate operational risks, including change management, hazardous materials, machine safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and waste management.
• Develop EHS&S training strategies and collaborate with internal functions, suppliers, contractors, and external manufacturers.
• Maintain site alignment with ISO 14001 and communicate EHS&S risks, opportunities, and regulatory issues to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of EH&S-related experience.
• NEBOSH Certificate required; NEBOSH Diploma preferred.
• Experience in medical device manufacturing or another highly regulated industry.
• Technical knowledge across environmental, health, and safety disciplines, including air, water, hazardous and medical waste, machine safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and chemical handling.
• Experience identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace EHS&S risks, interpreting regulations, managing projects, and working with inspectors and regulatory agencies.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, influencing, organizational, time-management, training, and leadership skills, with the ability to work in a matrix environment.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with internet, intranet, and database tools supporting EHS&S functions.
• Experience working in controlled environments such as clean rooms.
