Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Builds cloud-first accounts payable automation and payments products that help businesses manage invoices, recurring expenses, and vendor payments.

What you will do

• Discuss, plan, build, and test new product features.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders to define user experiences.
• Triage and fix bugs, including issues reported directly by users.
• Manage pull request reviews while maintaining unit tests and code quality.
• Help migrate application modules into independent microservices.
• Develop features serving tens of thousands of customers.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience building web applications with modern software engineering processes.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Django.
• Experience debugging complex database performance issues.
• Experience building performant, scalable backends and making pragmatic technical tradeoffs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
• Critical thinking, product awareness, and willingness to diagnose and resolve core issues when systems break.

Nice to have

• Experience in an early-stage startup.
• Fintech or accounting experience.
• Experience integrating ERP or accounting systems.
• Exposure to purchase orders.
• AWS DevOps experience and strong product sense.
