Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Taipei, Taiwan; hybrid with at least 3 days per week in the Taiwan office

What you will do

• Build backend services, APIs, and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
• Develop infrastructure supporting insurance, payments, wallets, savings, investing, travel, and other financial products.
• Design systems for accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications, and operations.
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers, and other partners.
• Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing journeys.
• Improve reliability, observability, security, performance, and auditability.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, databases, system design, and production debugging.
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
• Understanding of security, reliability, data quality, and operational edge cases.
• Ability to balance speed, quality, and risk while working with product, mobile, operations, and business teams.
• Strong English communication; at least 3 days per week in the Taiwan office.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking, or other regulated products.
• Experience handling production systems and taking ownership of long-term reliability.
