Sr. Field Application Scientist, Cell Culture Automation

Location: Singapore; remote work from home while covering Japan and Asia Pacific (JAPAC)

What you will do

• Serve as the regional scientific and technical expert for cell culture automation across JAPAC.
• Assess customer workflows and design, demonstrate, implement, and optimize automated cell culture solutions.
• Design and execute feasibility studies, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept projects involving stem cells, organoids, spheroids, immuno-oncology, and translational disease models.
• Translate cell culture protocols into automated workflows covering liquid handling, labware configuration, imaging, monitoring, feeding, seeding, passaging, compound addition, and endpoint assays.
• Guide customers in AI-enabled image analysis, phenotype classification, segmentation, feature extraction, quantitative analysis, and image-guided decision-making.
• Partner with commercial and cross-functional teams on onboarding, training, technical escalations, reference sites, and scientific collaborations.

Requirements

• PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, bioengineering, pharmacology, computational biology, or a related discipline; alternatively, a related master’s degree with substantial relevant industry experience.
• Multiple years of customer-facing scientific applications experience in field applications, application science, product specialization, scientific consulting, or a comparable technical-commercial role.
• Experience with automated cell culture, liquid handling, laboratory robotics, or workflow automation, plus relevant cell-based applications such as stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, organoids, or spheroids.
• Experience with live-cell imaging, high-content screening, automated microscopy, cell-based assay development, or AI-assisted image analysis.
• Fluent English communication and presentation skills, including support for customers and stakeholders across multiple countries and cultures.
• Ability to travel internationally approximately 40–60% and work in customer laboratory environments while following site safety, access, and training requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with ImageXpress systems, MetaXpress, IN Carta, high-content screening platforms, automated cell culture platforms, or comparable technologies.
• Background in drug discovery, biopharmaceuticals, contract research organizations, academic research institutes, stem cell centers, or imaging core facilities.
• Experience launching emerging scientific technologies, developing strategic reference sites, or driving adoption across Asia Pacific.
