Advanced / NPI Quality Engineer (AI Drones)

Location: Hayward, California, United States; full-time, onsite role.

Annual base salary: $145,000–$257,000, plus equity and benefits. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible roles.

What you will do

• Own product quality from concept through ramp and mass production for one product.
• Set CTQ characteristics and quality targets, create quality plans, classify BOM risks, and assign PPAP levels.
• Facilitate DFMEA and PFMEA, contribute to design reviews and DFM, and manage EVT, DVT, and PVT build quality.
• Qualify suppliers and measurement systems, review supplier PPAP submissions, and run capability studies, gauge R&R, and run-at-rate activities.
• Establish SPC with reaction plans, design safe-launch plans, lead daily quality reviews, and drive 8D investigations for escapes.
• Transfer quality records to sustaining quality and feed lessons learned into FMEA libraries and supplier requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of quality engineering experience with physical products, including personally carrying at least one product from design through mass production.
• Hands-on experience facilitating DFMEA and PFMEA, creating production control plans, and performing MSA, gauge R&R, and capability studies.
• Working knowledge of PPAP and root-cause methods including 8D, 5-Why, and fault-tree analysis, with verified closure.
• Comfort working both on the factory floor and in design reviews.
• For US-based positions, employment eligibility is verified through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer electronics manufacturing, including SMT, final assembly, RF testing, and cosmetic standards, or work with a CM/ODM.
• Supplier quality experience, including audits, sub-tier risk, and PCN management.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ESD S20.20, HALT, AFR modeling, and reliability testing.
• Data fluency with SPC and yield analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, or SQL, plus experience extracting data from MES.
• CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt certification, APQP under IATF 16949 or ISO 13485, and exposure to FCC/CE, UN 38.3, or IP ingress compliance.
