Australia Awards Malaysia Semester Program Manager (International Development): Leading the delivery of supplementary support services and grant workflows for a Malaysia-focused Australia Awards education program with an accent on program frameworks, stakeholder coordination, scholar welfare, and adaptive delivery. Focus on managing complex grants, strengthening partner ways of working, overseeing monitoring and learning, and scaling pilot operations across emerging priorities.

Location: Australia or Malaysia. Candidates must currently be located in and hold valid work rights in either country; visa sponsorship and relocation support are not available.

What you will do

  • Lead supplementary support services and end-to-end grant workflow delivery for the Australia Awards Malaysia Semester Program.
  • Develop implementation plans, annual work plans, risk registers, policies, procedures, guidelines and grant agreements.
  • Coordinate DFAT, Australian university partners and delivery teams across multiple workstreams.
  • Oversee scholar monitoring, welfare processes, critical incident escalation and required reporting.
  • Support grant administration and scholar monitoring systems, including management information systems.
  • Lead program reflection, learning, monitoring, evaluation, communications, compliance and annual reporting activities.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in international development, international relations, education or a related field.
  • Significant experience managing DFAT-funded programs, preferably including program start-up or pilot delivery.
  • Experience in the Australian higher education sector, Australia Awards programs and full-lifecycle grant management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, client management, professional writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks and information management systems.
  • Current location and valid work rights in Australia or Malaysia are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with SmartyGrants.
  • Experience or understanding of the Southeast Asia context, particularly Malaysia.
