CMM Inspector

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; onsite role

Base pay: $38–$55 per hour

What you will do

• Perform dimensional inspections of tubes, weldments, and machined parts using portable-arm and fixed CMMs, tactile probing, and laser scanning.
• Interpret GD&T requirements, including datums, profile, position, cylindricity, and flatness, from engineering drawings.
• Build reusable inspection programs, repeatable fixtures, and measurement methods for production throughput.
• Perform First Article Inspection and create clear, audit-ready inspection records.
• Write nonconformance reports, support root-cause analysis, and provide inspection feedback to production.
• Maintain calibration, verify measurement integrity, and help establish inspection equipment, standards, and processes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or related quality engineering.
• Hands-on experience with a Hexagon Absolute Arm and portable-arm measurement techniques.
• Fluency in GD&T and experience reading real engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with PC-DMIS and/or PolyWorks, including tactile probing and laser scanning.
• Experience inspecting tubes, weldments, and machined parts, including straightness, roundness, weld distortion, and sealing-surface flatness.
• U.S. citizenship is required for export-controlled and national-security-systems work. An associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in metrology, quality, or manufacturing is also required.

Nice to have

• Experience with measurement uncertainty, Gage R&R, thermal expansion, and temperature equilibration of aluminum parts.
• Background in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience with AS9100, NQA-1, AS9102, Verisurf, and export-controlled data.
• Ability to lead inspection equipment selection and own equipment maintenance and calibration.
