Senior Commercial Underwriter (C&I/CRE)

Location: Fully onsite in Irvine, California

Salary: $98,000–$170,000 per year, with possible performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial and industrial and commercial real estate credit requests, including working capital lines, asset-based lines, real estate loans, and equipment financing.
• Analyze business, industry, financial, and credit information to identify repayment risks and support credit recommendations.
• Prepare quantitative underwriting narratives, risk ratings, exception tracking, loan coding, and credit approval materials.
• Monitor borrower financial performance, spread financial statements, calculate covenants, and help resolve covenant violations.
• Collaborate with portfolio managers, client solutions managers, relationship managers, and other stakeholders on customer needs and loan structures.
• Review other underwriters’ credit reports, provide quality-control feedback, and coach or train colleagues as needed.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or relevant lending experience.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, credit, and credit-quality skills.
• Experience with accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
• Strong time management, written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related business software.
