TL;DR
Environmental Analyst (Sustainability): Managing sustainability data, environmental reporting, LEED certification, and green building initiatives across a commercial office building portfolio with an accent on energy, water, waste, carbon, and regulatory performance. Focus on analyzing large datasets, coordinating LEED and WELL programs, tracking ENERGY STAR metrics, and preparing recommendations for clients, consultants, and leadership.

Location: Onsite in Sacramento, California, United States

Salary: $38.46–$44.23 per hour

What you will do

  • Collect, analyze, and report sustainability performance data for commercial buildings and operations.
  • Coordinate LEED certification and recertification activities across two Class A and one Class B office buildings.
  • Track energy and water consumption through ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager and support environmental reporting through The Climate Registry.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments covering energy, water, waste, carbon, indoor air quality, greenhouse gas inventories, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support WELL Building Standard and WELL Health-Safety Rating initiatives, ESG objectives, and sustainability compliance programs.
  • Prepare dashboards, presentations, executive summaries, and recommendations while collaborating with clients, facility managers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience in environmental science, sustainability, environmental management, green building, energy management, research, market analysis, or a related field; commercial real estate experience is relevant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field such as Business, Economics, or Statistics.
  • Currently authorized to work full time in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Knowledge of LEED, USGBC programs, WELL standards, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, The Climate Registry, environmental reporting, benchmarking, and sustainability metrics.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, dashboards, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to have

  • LEED Green Associate, LEED Accredited Professional, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, or CRIS experience.
  • Experience with ESG reporting frameworks, greenhouse gas inventories, carbon accounting, decarbonization, renewable energy, or energy efficiency.
  • Experience supporting sustainability programs for commercial real estate, facilities management, or large building portfolios.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants.
