Automation & Controls Engineering Intern (Summer 2027) (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite lab or factory work required

Base hourly pay: $29.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of automated test systems for spacecraft hardware and ground-support equipment.
• Assist with electrical controls hardware, including control panels, wiring, sensors, actuators, relays, power distribution, and data acquisition systems.
• Help implement safety interlocks and automated systems for environmental testing that shakes, heats, cools, evacuates, and otherwise stresses satellite hardware.
• Collaborate with environmental test, mechanical, electrical, reliability, manufacturing, and software teams.
• Support systems from early design and prototyping through validation, commissioning, and operational use.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with electrical circuits, instrumentation, sensors, or data acquisition through coursework, projects, research, internships, clubs, or personal work.
• Experience with embedded systems, PLCs, industrial automation, control systems, state machines, or hardware/software integration.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Willingness to perform hands-on hardware work in a lab or factory environment.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required.
