Focus on supporting registered nurses, performing phlebotomy and EKGs, maintaining patient safety, and keeping the care unit operational during night shifts.

Location: 245 E. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL; onsite night shift

Salary: $24.26 per hour

What you will do

  • Support registered nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities in the medical oncology and gynecology unit.
  • Measure and document vital signs, intake and output, blood glucose, specimens, cardiac monitoring, and EKG results.
  • Perform phlebotomy, assist with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, procedures, mobility, meals, hygiene, and newborn care.
  • Respond to call lights and emergencies, initiate basic life support, transport patients, and report changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain clean, safe, stocked, and operational patient rooms, equipment, supplies, and clinical areas.
  • Participate in quality improvement, quality control, staff orientation, meetings, and unit operations delegated by the RN.

Requirements

  • CNA certification or current enrollment in a School of Nursing with completed basic clinical rotations.
  • CPR recognition from the American Heart Association with BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • High school diploma required; one year of college, nursing education, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Unit-based recognition for capillary blood glucose monitoring and at least 90% correct on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
  • Previous healthcare experience and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and medical staff are preferred.
