Senior Associate, Mergers and Acquisitions

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; travel as needed to support market research.

Base salary: $77,000–$112,000 per year. Compensation may vary in other cities and states.

What you will do

• Research U.S. markets, industry verticals, and prospective acquisition targets using public records, databases, licensing data, trade publications, and other sources.
• Build and maintain market maps, competitive landscapes, target profiles, and an organized acquisition target database.
• Support investment theses with market context, financial information, revenue estimates, margin analysis, and growth estimates.
• Prepare research summaries, memoranda, and presentation materials for the M&A Manager and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with corporate resource department heads on due diligence for prioritized targets.
• Test new data sources, tools, and research methods to improve research efficiency and quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; business, finance, or economics concentration preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a similar research-intensive role.
• Independent research experience and the ability to produce clear, organized written work.
• Strong quantitative skills, including experience with financial statements and basic valuation concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, judgment, ownership, prioritization, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with industry research databases such as PitchBook, Capital IQ, or similar tools.
