Senior Software Engineer – Java/Spring Boot Engineer (Monolith Systems Development and Modernization)

Location: Remote in the Greater Boston area only; candidates must be US citizens or Green Card holders.

Salary: $87,500–$139,250 annual estimated range.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test software for a high-volume, high-availability payment platform.
• Contribute to a complex monolithic application while modernizing the platform with scalable microservices.
• Translate business requirements from Product, Platform, Merchant Services, and Support teams into technical solutions.
• Deploy production features with zero platform downtime and no impact on active customers.
• Apply Agile practices including pair programming, test-driven development, and collaborative delivery.
• Build domain expertise in e-commerce payments and develop new product features.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant Java software engineering experience, excluding internships.
• Strong Java programming, software design, SQL, relational data modelling, and database schema design skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to derive requirements from business goals and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.
• US citizenship or a Green Card is required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with microservices, globally distributed services, 24/7 support, RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS, or OpenShift.
• Experience with monitoring, self-healing resilient platforms, and high-volume, low-latency transactional systems.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, security, observability, and platform tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, JUnit, Prometheus, Splunk, and OpenTelemetry.
• Pair programming experience and willingness to practice it.
