Subassemblies Specialist (Fusion Energy): Building and testing precision ultra-high-vacuum subassemblies for the SPARC tokamak with an accent on high-power RF antennas, plasma-facing components, coils, diagnostics, and stringent cleanliness standards. Focus on leading technicians, performing helium leak checks, refining tooling and work instructions, and completing precision alignment and installation of critical fusion systems.

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; on-site

Salary: $90,000–$145,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Build complex subassemblies and components for the SPARC tokamak while maintaining strict cleanliness requirements.
  • Oversee contract technicians and ensure compliance with work instructions and quality standards.
  • Perform helium leak checks, testing, and equipment check-outs.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to refine work instructions and finalize component tooling interfaces.
  • Assist with precision alignment and installation of active and passive optical systems.
  • Develop responses to field non-conformances and support related skilled work across assembly teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in a highly technical assembly role, such as aerospace, semiconductor, automotive, laboratory, or energy equipment assembly.
  • At least 2 years leading a team of four or more people.
  • Experience with tooling design, large-scale projects, measurement tools, basic machining, forklift operation, and rigging or lifting heavy components.
  • Experience using Jira, Manufacturo, or comparable production-tracking software.
  • Ability to work on-site in Devens, Massachusetts, occasionally travel for required nights, weekends, or on-call duties, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Welding experience.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom best practices, cryogenic systems, or Six Sigma processes.
