Senior Test Engineer (Fusion Energy)

What you will do

• Develop and own validation strategies and qualification milestones for high-temperature superconducting magnets, cryogenic systems, and high-vacuum components.
• Lead, mentor, and grow test engineers and technicians while enforcing rigorous data integrity and first-principles problem-solving.
• Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of custom cryogenic and high-power test stands.
• Analyze complex test datasets and troubleshoot system-level failure modes with magnet, electrical, controls, manufacturing, mechanical, and physics teams.
• Manage vendor relationships, procurement contracts, and external design, build, and validation work for specialized hardware and test facilities.
• Establish safety protocols for high-voltage, high-field, and cryogenic operations in accordance with applicable IEEE, ANSI, and IEC standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hardware-centric test engineering experience in high-stakes environments such as fusion, aerospace, or superconducting magnets.
• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Experience managing verification and validation lifecycles for integrated systems.
• Advanced proficiency in LabVIEW and Python, including automation of complex, multi-day cryogenic and electromagnetic tests.
• Ability to make critical engineering decisions autonomously, solve multidisciplinary problems, and communicate findings to executives and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site in Kearny, New Jersey, and occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
